I joined the craze that is Syphon Filter Central back in 2007. At the time I was searching the internet for any kind of Syphon Filter and Resident Evil material. I wanted to create a website with all kinds of content for both video game series. I soon dropped the Resident Evil franchise because of the large number of great websites already dedicated to it. In a way, I got lucky with Syphon Filter because there was only five or so fan sites covering the series and most of the websites were either poorly designed or never updated.
I joined the SFC forums not knowing what to expect. What I came to eventually realize and embrace though, was the fact that SFC is full of extremely random people who can some of the most outlandish and awkward things, but you still laugh because you know they aren't 100% serious. If you combine this with great discussions about such an amazing franchise, you get one hell of a website.
When I first joined, ironically enough, the members of the forums were talking about getting a new website together as the old one by Gabe had not been updated in years. I was no expert in html or any coding of that kind. I only had experience from high school classes and I was mainly focused on taking free templates and trying to make them look good. I failed at doing a good job. Luckily, a gentleman from the Bioflames forums named Marvin allowed me to download his website template and make modifications to it. That started what you now see today. SFC has gone through three or so designs, not too many changes, but the layout has been tweaked a bit. The current design is a combination of Marvin's color scheme (which fit SFC so perfectly) and a website that I had designed by an old friend from the PokeCommunity.
This combination is so perfect for myself and the website because when I add new website pages, I only have to edit a few template pages and BAM, every page on the website now has that link. Before, I would have to manually edit links and it especially sucked when MujariMojo bought the current domain. I had 100+ pages that needed 20 or so links on each page changed from sf-central.co.nr to sf-central.com. Talk about losing your mind, these were the times where I wanted to just give up and unfortuantly, at times I did. But now, SFC is back and better than ever. We have tons and tons of content coming soon as well as some very exclusive interviews. 2011 and beyond will be very interesting for Syphon Filter Central. |
